How Does NDIS Work?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) operates by providing eligible individuals with a personalized support plan tailored to their specific needs and goals. Once someone is deemed eligible, they work with an NDIS planner or local area coordinator to develop a plan that outlines the support and services required to enhance their quality of life.

This plan is then funded by the NDIS, allowing participants to access a range of supports, such as therapies, assistive technology, personal care, and community participation services. Participants have the flexibility to choose their providers and manage their funding, either independently or with assistance. The NDIS aims to empower people with disabilities by giving them control over the services they receive, promoting independence and participation in all aspects of life. Regular reviews ensure that the plan evolves with the participant’s changing needs and circumstances.

Current Situation

One of the key changes expected in 2023 is the introduction of new funding models. Currently, the NDIS operates on a block funding model, where participants receive a lump sum of funding to purchase support services. However, this model has come under scrutiny in recent years, with many participants and providers calling for greater flexibility and choice.

In 2023, the NDIS is expected to introduce new funding models that allow for greater flexibility and choice. This may include new pricing structures, such as activity based funding, that enable participants to receive funding for specific activities or outcomes.

Expansion of NDIS Services

Another change expected in 2023 is the expansion of NDIS services. The NDIS currently provides support for a range of services, including assistance with daily living, home modifications, and therapy. In 2023, the NDIS is expected to expand its services to include new and innovative support options.

Increased Support for Carers and Family Members

Goodwill Disability Movement has processed its registration and is aiming to organise its audit and then to market its services more aggressively. We are prepared to launch our services as soon as the audit is conducted successfully.
